I am a 16 year veteran of the School District of Philadelphia and the Bache-Martin School.  I previously taught at Saint Michael’s School in Fishtown and The University of Nebraska at Omaha.

I believe that reading, writing, and discussion of literature, current and past events enables and empowers our students to grow in both their skills and their realization of their impact in the world. Middle-years students have wonderful questions and ideas about the world in which they live—giving them the tools to read, question, think, and write about the world helps them realize their full potential. I love using our great city and all its resources to help our students explore ideas and events.

As an educator, I also value my work as a social justice unionist and an activist for ensuring our Philadelphia students have the schools they truly deserve.

My husband and I have raised our family in Fairmount and enjoy all the cultural, natural, and civic attractions our neighborhood and city have to offer.
